The usage of a structure or property refers to the basic type of activity which is assigned to take place there. A usage type applies to a property whether it is vacant or not: it only has to be the intended purpose of the space.

Usages are distinguished from amenities, which are similar to usages but serve a particular usage. For example a public fitness center should be listed as a usage, but a private exercise room in a residential building would not.
